Overview of DAAD EPOS Program

The DAAD EPOS (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses) scholarship program supports professionals from developing countries in pursuing fully funded Master's and PhD degrees in Germany. The scholarships are intended for graduates with at least two years of relevant professional experience who aim to contribute to the development of their countries.

Additional programs are available in areas like urban planning, public health, photogrammetry, and water resources across other universities including HTW Berlin, University of Greifswald, and TU Dortmund.


Scholarship Coverage

  • Monthly stipend of approximately €934 for Master's students

  • Health, accident, and personal liability insurance

  • Travel allowance to and from Germany

  • Full tuition coverage at participating institutions

  • Optional rent subsidy and family allowance (if applicable)


Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a national of a developing or newly industrialized country (e.g., Pakistan, India, Bangladesh)

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree (usually a 4-year degree) in a relevant field

  • At least two years of full-time professional work experience after graduation

  • Demonstrated commitment to development-related work

  • Strong academic performance (upper third of class)

  • Proficiency in English (IELTS ≥ 6.0 or TOEFL ≥ 80). German may be required for some programs


Application Process

  1. Select one to three suitable EPOS programs.

  2. Apply directly to the university (not through uni-assist).

  3. Submit the following documents:

    • DAAD application form and EPOS checklist

    • Motivation letter tailored to development relevance

    • Curriculum Vitae in Europass format

    • Degree certificates and transcripts

    • Employment certificates (minimum two years)

    • Two recommendation letters (academic and professional)

    • Language proficiency proof (IELTS/TOEFL or TestDaF/DSH)

    • Passport copy and recent photo

  4. After pre-selection, shortlisted applicants may be asked to submit documents via the DAAD portal.

  • Schedule and complete your English proficiency test by August or September 2025.
